Stellenbosch has various trails that we aim to maintain. At the moment we are busy with a large scale remapping of all trails. Please bear with us while if the map you have is not a hundred percent accurate.
Please make sure you are safe at all times. Some Stellenbosch trails have in the past year achieved notoriety for the criminal element that use them to mug people. Always travel in groups.
Note to Cyclists:
In the last few years mountain biking has overtaken rugby as the main source for serious sports injuries. Several people have broken bones on our trails and even a few necks. Please make sure you do not become part of the statistic. Make sure you cycle within your skill level. If you have not done some of the technical training courses available don't try the jumps.
The routes are not for the exclusive use of cyclists. Just as you expect cars on the road to be mindful of you, be mindful of the runners and hikers who are also on the trails with their children and or dogs. Slow down, make some noise so that they know you are coming. Your Strava personal record is not important enough to risk breaking a bone or hurting a child.
ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET
Note to Hikers and Runners:
Check your six on the downhills (in other words look behind you). The cyclists will come up on you fast. Make sure you keep an eye and an ear open for them. Keep your dogs under control. Not all areas require your dog to be a on a leash but make sure your dog is under control when the cyclist approaches. Don't gloat when you pass the cyclists on the tricky and rocky uphill bits. They don't enjoy it nearly as much as you do.
Coetzenburg Map: As we are busy building and mapping this area this map might change. This map also includes the high XCO track. A high quality version of this map can be downloaded here.
G-Spot Map: This map of G-Spot does not change very often. G-Spot is also a very dangerous route. Although reasonably safe to cycle people that overestimate their ability frequently pick up injuries in the down sections. Please be careful and ride within your abilities.. A high quality version of this map can be downloaded here.
Eden/Paradyskloof Forest: Eden forest is a gentle ride with a few tough hills if you so choose. It links Mont Marie in the south to G-Spot in the north. Its forests will give you plenty of shade to use while you enjoy some safe single-tracks. A high quality version of this map can be downloaded here.
Jonkershoek Map: This map might be slightly out of date as the 2015 fires have destroyed some routes. Mor accurate information can be found at the Jonkershoek Gate. A high quality version of this map can be downloaded here.
