There are numerous trails in and around Stellenbosch. Even though we are not financially responsible for all of them they are all great and well worth a visit. Some of them can only be accessed on a permit basis so always make sure you have paid the relevant fee. Bicycles are also easy to rent from BMT in Stellenbosch's Dorp Street, as well as Ride-In Cafe, all just a stones-throw away from three of the STF's main tracks.
G-Spot has now attained international status as one of the best rides in the world. This trail is managed by us and as such is free of cost. You can find G-Spot parking at the top of Kronendal Road.
The Koloniesland trails are our latest addition to our Trail Network and is located along the pristine Eersteriver. It starts at the top of Noordwal Oos and can also be accessed via Jannasch Rd.
Eden Forest was one of the oldest tracks in the region and downhill competitions have been happening here since the 90's. Forestry and fires have changed the landscape in the last 10 years and some of the old tracks have disappeared only to be replaced by new tracks. It is another of the tracks maintained by the Stellenbosch Trail fund and as such is free for use.
Maties XCO Track
The Maties XCO track was built on the mountains above Coetzenburg with the Stellenbosch Trail Fund acting as funding assistant. It is a fast and challenging track that has some black routes in it. It connects to the Berg-Pad which is a wide gravel road that runs on the contour of the mountain. It is a definite must for a visitors and is free for use. Park your car in Park Road and use the gravel roads to access the tracks.
Bottelary Hills Conservancy MTB Track
A beautifully scenic track that can runs through a number of winefarms and natural hills. Definitely worth a visit. Day passes can be bought easily. For more information follow the link below.
Banhoek Conservancy MTB Track
The Banhoek conservancy track is a relativly new track. It runs across wine and proteafarms and is one of the hidden gems of Stellenbosch. Day permits can be bought.
Dirtopia is a moutainbike trail company that has been building and maintaining tracks in and around Stellenbosch for almost two decades now. They have a number of tracks that cross winefarms and fields with some spectacular single tracks. They have two offices where day permits can be bought. They also rent out bicycles and gear for those in need.
Jonkershoek features some of the most extensive tracks in and around the western cape. The tracks include some very challenging double black tracks as well as easy to use jeep tracks. Day permits can be bought. Some tracks might be closed at times due to ongoing forestry operations happening in the area.
