Stellenbosch Trail Water

A Community Project Driven by Stellenbosch Trail Fund, Visit Stellenbosch and RE Beverages

Stellenbosch Trail Water at Simonzicht

Background

Since 2011, Stellenbosch Trail Fund (STF) has been maintaining and protecting the iconic Eerste River in Stellenbosch as well as the legendary mountain bike and running trails on local municipal land. STF is a registered non-profit organisation and is entirely funded by donations.

STF has partnered with Visit Stellenbosch (the official Local Tourism Authority of Stellenbosch) and RE Beverages to supply a range of bottled spring water to the hospitality industry in and around Stellenbosch. The product range is called Stellenbosch Trail Water. The aim is to offer a product which celebrates our world-class trail offering and raises funds for both STF and Visit Stellenbosch.

About the water and RE Beverages

Boasting one of the most hygienic bottling facilities in the country, 20-year-old RE Beverages specialises in bottling premium spring water for the hospitality industry.

Their spring water is sourced from a perennial spring on Paardeberg Mountain outside Paarl. The water gradually absorbs minerals and is naturally filtered during its journey through the cracks in the granite rock, producing an ideal final product with a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) score of 190 and a pH of 7.1.

RE Beverages were also willing to sacrifice a portion of their normal profit margins in support of this community project.

The favourable pricing terms obtained from RE Beverages allowed us to add a rebate to the per-bottle price of the water and still deliver a competitively-priced product.  This rebate (R1.00 per 500ml bottle and R1.60 per one-litre bottle) will be split 50/50 between Stellenbosch Trail Fund and Visit Stellenbosch.

The product range

  • The range consists of a 500ml bottle and a one-litre bottle of still and sparking spring water (i.e. four products in total).
  • The Teardrop PET bottle has a clear, wrap-around label and is packaged in a wrapped carton tray of 24 bottles (for the 500ml) and 12 bottles (for the one-litre bottles).
  • The 500ml products are sold at a cost of R5.90 (excl VAT) per bottle, and the one-litre products at R9.35 (excl VAT) per bottle.
  • A minimum order size of five cases per week needs to be placed. The five cases can be in any combination of the four products.
  • RE Beverages will obtain and process orders directly from the hospitality establishment.
  • RE Beverages will deliver directly to the establishment based on weekly Nominated delivery days.  Deliveries can be done weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
  • Additional and ad-hoc orders can be placed for a minimum of 10 cases (in any combination of the products).
  • RE Beverages will invoice the establishment directly. Note that their payment terms are seven days after invoice.
